Wide Midface and Zygoma Asymmetry Improved with On Clinic Facial Contouring
Many individuals visit On Clinic concerned about their face size and asymmetry. The patient who recently visited us had large eyes, but the overall facial area, especially the midface, was wide, giving the impression that their eyes appeared relatively smaller. Furthermore, there was severe asymmetry in the eyes, skull, and cheekbones, clearly visible to the naked eye. Wishing to resolve these complex issues, the patient decided on zygoma and midface reduction surgery after consulting with Dr. Myungjun Oh.
Dr.'s Precise Diagnosis and Surgical Plan
Dr. Myungjun Oh meticulously diagnosed the patient's face, explaining that the primary reason their eyes didn't appear larger was due to a wide midface. He emphasized that effectively narrowing the midface area could make the eyes appear more prominent. He clarified that zygoma asymmetry could be perfectly corrected through surgery, and while eye asymmetry is difficult to directly correct surgically, the plan was to reduce the overall width of the midface to create a visually balanced face. This approach aims for overall facial harmony and balance, and it was noted that the nose could also appear more defined post-surgery.
Remarkable Post-Surgery Changes and Patient Review
After the surgery, the patient was highly satisfied with their noticeably smaller and more balanced face. I personally confirmed the changes in the cheekbones by reviewing the pre- and post-operative CT scans. Specifically, the right cheekbone, which was more prominent than the left, was aligned straight with the left cheekbone at eye level after the surgery. The right cheekbone had moved further inward, and the overall facial width was significantly reduced. I was also impressed to see the severely asymmetrical face perfectly improved.
"My asymmetry was really severe, but it's improved so much. All correctable asymmetries have been addressed."
The patient also showed active interest in post-operative care. They inquired about the timing for Ulthera or temple Botox procedures, and Dr. Oh advised that it would be best to receive these treatments starting two months after surgery. He added that sagging skin could be managed more effectively with skin tightening procedures using devices. Progress photos taken one month later show that the patient's previously wide and asymmetrical face is now much smaller and slimmer, with more defined eyes and nose. Overall, the patient's impression has transformed into a much younger and more refined look.
