Thin Cheekbone Revision: Rebuilding a Zygoma as Thin as a Pencil

This video showcases a successful case of cheekbone reduction surgery for a patient whose reoperation was extremely challenging due to thin cheekbones and facial asymmetry. Through the patient's CT scan, the medical team confirmed that the cheekbones were as thin as pencils and the bones were separated. Specifically, the bones were so thin that further reduction carried a risk of non-union, classifying it as a highly difficult surgery.

Post-operative CT images show that the medical team effectively reduced the space around the cheekbones, making the face appear smaller than the head. Furthermore, the facial asymmetry present before the surgery was also improved. Most importantly, the thin and separated bones were perfectly and firmly reattached. For patients with weak bones, even a small gap can cause instability, making robust fixation extremely crucial. Despite being a challenging case, the successful outcome significantly increased patient satisfaction.
