What is the CO2 Fractional Laser?

An ablative laser that delivers a 10,600 nm carbon dioxide (CO2) beam as thousands of microscopic columns (micro-columns) so that only a fraction of the skin is treated at a time, refining surface texture while preserving the surrounding tissue. It is used to manage acne scars, traumatic and surgical scars, and benign pigmented or skin lesions such as solar lentigines, nevi, and milia.
How It Works
The 10,600 nm wavelength is strongly absorbed by water in the skin, producing controlled micro-ablation and thermal stimulation at the treatment site. Because the beam is split into many micro-columns, untreated tissue between the columns supports faster recovery. Within this process, dermal fibroblasts are stimulated and collagen remodeling occurs gradually.
