We introduce the journey of a patient who visited On Clinic for cheekbone revision surgery. This patient visited our clinic through a strong recommendation from a friend. Her friend had undergone surgery with Dr. Myungjun Oh and was highly satisfied, so the patient also came with great expectations. Although she appeared somewhat nervous before the surgery, she showed deep trust in the doctor.
Precise Diagnosis and Customized Surgical Plan
The patient sought to resolve cheekbone asymmetry and non-union issues resulting from a previous surgery. Dr. Myungjun Oh personally diagnosed the patient's face, meticulously analyzed the bone structure using 3D CT images, and conducted a detailed consultation.
- Right Cheekbone: It was already on the shorter side, so the focus was on avoiding excessive reduction and maintaining a natural line.
- Left Cheekbone: It needed to be reduced more to balance with the right side. In particular, the focus was on refining the round, protruding part of the cheekbone to be closer to a straight line, creating a smooth contour from both frontal and side views.
Dr. Oh drew design lines directly on the CT images, explaining in detail the areas the patient was curious about. He accurately identified the degree of bone protrusion and the cause of asymmetry, and based on this, established a plan to balance both cheekbones.
“The reason is to correct the asymmetry. This side inevitably needs more reduction, while the other side needs less.”
Post-Surgery Progress and Asymmetry Improvement
Swelling is minimal immediately after surgery and tends to increase a week later. The patient appeared stable immediately after surgery and revisited the clinic a week later for a follow-up. Dr. Myungjun Oh explained the surgical results by comparing pre- and post-operative photos and 3D CT images.
After the surgery, the patient's face showed significant improvement. In particular, the cheekbone asymmetry was largely resolved, making the overall facial contour much more balanced and smoother.
- Cheekbone Reduction and Symmetry Improvement: The cheekbones were effectively reduced to align with the eye bone line, and with the improved asymmetry, the midface achieved an overall reduction effect.
- Non-Union Issue Resolution: The non-union area from the previous surgery was also stabilized for re-union.
Dr. Myungjun Oh honestly explained that while the patient's cheekbone asymmetry was successfully corrected, subtle asymmetries in the eye bones or the skull itself might remain. He also advised that additional tightening of sagging soft tissues might be necessary through procedures like Ulthera or Thermage.
The patient was highly satisfied with the surgical results and was able to return to daily life with increased confidence. On Clinic strives for optimal results through customized surgical plans that consider each patient's unique characteristics and meticulous surgical execution.
